Gothic Elements

“The Strange Case of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde” written by Robert Louis Stevenson was a creepy story indeed and nothing like what we had read before. However as the story was developing I started to notice the Gothic elements, the mystery between Hyde and Jekyll, the gloomy setting, I can almost imagine the gloomy setting when reading this, you get a sense that something supernatural is happening even though it doesn’t clearly state it until the very end. I also get the sense from the mood and tone that is set by the away the narrator is narrating the story that something very menacing is occurring like that of the possession of the others bodies. The characters description between Mr. Hyde and Dr. Jekyll are very contradicting because on is tall, is a gentleman, has a nice face (Dr. Jekyll), while the other is ugly, deformed end evil (Mr. Hyde), that to me is what gave it away.
