To start I wonder why specifically did they choose the traumatic life of Mary Wollstonecraft for this sections? Mary’s life was one I wouldn’t wish on anybody. Losing a best friend like she did or anybody you love in general is very very painful to go through. Along with her husband having an affair and her attempting suicide because of it, she was a very strong woman to say the least. Like we discussed I agree with her statement that educating woman is the key to becoming better woman because knowledge is power. Especially in these times where men where the ones that help the power in the household and in the social hierarchy because they were the ones that were educated the most. The idea of having a family with a woman who is simply pretty is clearly boring you have to look for more than that, and that is why she probably argues that women should be educated so they are not only pretty woman but instead intelligent attractive women. But of course I do not agree that they should simply be educated to become a better wife for their husbands. This also brings me to mention the idea that women are to blame for this hierarchy because it correlates with the story of Adam and Eve, to me is so absurd. However it is important to note that today women do recieve the same education as men. Although there are so many inequalities between the two gender the two most common ones being equal pay and equal opportunity.
I agree with everything you said in your post. Women have never truly been considered equal to men and I think that is something we need to fix fast. Back then women had nearly nothing compared to men and thankfully these days women have a lot more opportunities that women did back then. Although there are more opportunities now, it should not stop there. It is proven that men get paid more than women for exactly the same job and that is something we need to figure out how to fix. But we can all agree that women have way more opportunities right now than they did back then.

Hello Destiny! I agree with everything that you stated in your post. To answer your question on why they choose Mary’s story to tell was because I think it shows the perspective of a modern day woman at the time. She lived the life of a wife and dealt with the inequality. Also I really agree that knowledge is power. I think that keeping knowledge limited to women was just a way for men to show their dominance. However in today’s society we have improved in women’s rights, although clearly it’s not perfect. I believe that if we continue to educate people about unequal pay with men and women our society will continue to grow.
