I really liked the discussion that we had in class about women’s rights and what virtues  women should have or already have. I do agree with Mary Wollstonecraft on her views of what virtues women should acquire. Mary said women should have knowledge so they can be an equal partner for men. I believe she was right about women needing knowledge but I don’t agree with her reasoning all the way for why they should have knowledge.  Mary was saying that women needed knowledge to be a better wife for their husbands, so they could be more of use to men, and to be the best mother they could. I agree that they should be the best mom they can if that is what they chose to be. I don’t think they should only have knowledge just to be better wifes and mothers. Women are much more than that and deserve the knowledge to be whoever they choose to be. Why must women only be known for their wife and mother skills? I understand why Mary might have just said that the knowledge was for us to be better mothers and wifes because back then if she would have strived for women to be equal as humans she would have got shot down. Men would not have allowed that. I believe that Mary was playing the game she was just trying to get knowledge to women first so that we could come to gather and get more for women later on.
